Understanding the world around me...
In my previous work, by trying to understand the world around me, I tried to understand its richness. After a period of mastering classical painting (and other) techniques and technologies, during the first two years of schooling at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje, there was a period of reconsideration and thinking about possible artistic paths that are closest to me. Studying the figure, during the classes of the Evening Nude, the existing space was erased, and the use of backgrounds of various colours imposed a new space, characteristic of the moment and the mood.
After several visits to the African continent, under strong impression, works of vivid colours and motifs were created, a completely different world from the one I had observed until then, as a result of which I researched and displayed people and motifs inspired by Africa. One complete explosion of freshness, intense raw life, bright colours and loud music created a torrent of emotions in me, which articulated my understanding of everything I experienced through the canvases.
The next topic that occupied me was landscapes. The great inspiration that Montenegro represents for me, I feel through its strong nature, its landscapes. The motifs of Skadar Lake, Ćemovsko polje, pines, cypresses, the Morača canyon, which have always been present around me and in me, suddenly came to life on the canvases in a new way. In nature, I find numerous symbols of beauty, sublimity, struggle, perseverance, patience, strength, pride ... It was, in a way, an expression of my personal feelings and thoughts from that time. After all the travels and wanderings, I found beauty and inspiration alone in what was in the beginning.
The whole process was metaphysical. The artist often feels first, and only then understands. That. This is what moves him and gives him the strength to persevere and through the painting process little by little he discovers what is in him, so emotions and perceptions take shape and produce a message through the painting expression.
This process requires a constant strain on the mind, which controls even what is unexpected and undefined.
I returned to man from the landscape, but this time not through figuration, but through man's habitat - cities. This topic still preoccupies me today, and is the subject of my work. Symbols that are not useful for practical life or have common places move into the space, but lead to thinking and reconsideration. The observer is offered a different reality and an environment that enables research and re-examination.
In this context, it is especially interesting to think about the city today. The modern city is definitely the best expression of our time, both art and economy, understanding, priorities, social power, identity, scientific and technical achievements and all elements of material and immaterial culture.
