Metaphysics in painting on the motif of the city as a symbol of stage of life or alienation.
I returned to man again from the landscape, but this time not through figuration, but through man's habitat - cities. This topic still preoccupies me today, and is the subject of my work. Symbols that are not useful for practical life nor have common places, but lead to thinking and reconsideration, move into the space. The observer is offered a different reality and an environment that enables research and re-examination. In this context, it is especially interesting to think about the city today. The modern city is definitely the best expression of our time, both art and economy, understanding, priorities, social power, identity, scientific and technical achievements and all elements of material and immaterial culture.

"Symbolic cities line up in front of us, which are part of Gordana's intimate diary of travel and emotions, which she artistically transforms. In an allegorical journey through the famous and unknown cities, the artist creates a synthesis between the inner and of the outside world. She plays, meditates, thinks deeply and explores and as an eternal traveller in search of hidden truths, she writes imaginary travelogues about the world around them. Gordana's city is a game of wandering, meeting, touching, which is clothed with its new spirit. Architecture and ambience of Mediterranean, mountain towns, with old, abandoned, dilapidated houses, towers, fortresses, narrow streets, which she skilfully shapes and coloristically revives are the dominant motives her poetics. Her palette is enlightened, muted tones, gray, pink, orange. White, as a symbol of purity, space, light, in which intense red, green and blue sometimes flash, creates an impression of mysticism and muted emotionalism." Maja Dedić

"At the exhibition Sky of Pines, Gordana opts for the landscape as an inspiring space that for her represents something more than a visual phenomenon. It has a transcendental dimension which the artist decisively emphasises with the very title of the exhibition, the interpretation of which we can connect in some spiritual-intellectual aspects with the aesthetics of Zen. Although in universal symbolism the pine represents the bearer of life force, and the sky the sublime centre of power and light, their common conceptual definition is immortal / eternal which Gordana discovers in the physical and spiritual connection of earth and sky. However, we cannot speak here of Zen, which appears in Eastern art as the essence and spirit of nature, but of Zen as the initiator of emotional and contemplative reflections of the artist whose painting credo is based on the postulates of Western rationalism which perceives nature in art as an illusion of reality."
